On April 27, 2024, the "Sumatra Branch of the China-Indonesia Institute of Modern Craftsmanship of Intelligent Vehicle" (hereinafter referred to as the "Branch of the Institute of Modern Craftsmanship"), jointly established by LVTC and LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "LiuGong"), was successfully inaugurated and commenced operations at Sriwijaya State Polytechnic (hereinafter referred to as "POLSRI"). This replicates the classic model of international cooperation in education that LVTC and LiuGong jointly initiated, following the first China-ASEAN institute of modern craftsmanship named "China-Indonesia Institute of Modern Craftsmanship of Intelligent Vehicle", which officially commenced operations at Politeknik Negeri Jakarta (PNJ) on December 5, 2023. In addition, in response to the forestry development needs of Sumatra in Indonesia, a new forestry machinery module has been added, and Guangxi Eco-engineering Vocational and Technical College (hereinafter referred to as "GEVTC") has been invited to participate in the branch construction.

The newly established Branch of the Institute of Modern Craftsmanship spans over 1,000 square meters. In addition to practical training on excavators and loaders, it also provides forestry machinery training. Moreover, according to the plan, a VR training room will be added. Once the branch is fully completed, it will become LiuGong’s largest training center overseas, with the most comprehensive practical training functions and the most advanced teaching equipment. The project continues the classic model of international cooperation in education that has long been carried out between LVTC and LiuGong. LiuGong provides the equipment, while LVTC and GEVTC are responsible for sharing professional standards and resources and implementing the training and certification of POLSRI's teachers. In turn, POLSRI is responsible for providing the venue as well as basic teaching and office facilities and equipment. The project which was implemented in tandem with the official launch of the China-Indonesia Institute of Modern Craftsmanship of Intelligent Vehicle took just over four months to complete the first phase of construction. On April 25, 2024, the four collaborating parties formally signed the agreement at the 2024 annual conference of the China-Indonesia TVET Industry-Education Alliance, which sparked enthusiastic discussion among attendees, including the Indonesian Ambassador to China and guests from the education departments, vocational colleges, and industry enterprises of China and Indonesia.

On April 27, 2022, Indonesia issued a presidential decree on vocational education. The choice of April 27 for the ribbon-cutting of the Sumatra Branch of the China-Indonesia Institute of Modern Craftsmanship of Intelligent Vehicle has far-reaching significance. As the responsible entities for the first China-ASEAN institute of modern craftsmanship, LVTC and LiuGong have placed great importance on the project, ensuring its efficient implementation. Since the project's inception, 80 students have received tailored training, 11 Indonesian teachers have been trained, 9 professional standards on construction machinery have been shared, and 10 textbooks in English and Indonesian have been prepared. Since the commencement of the construction of the Sumatra Branch, LiuGong has put in more than 300 sets of equipment and tools and LVTC has completed the sharing of 9 standards. The branch’s teacher training is set to start in June 2024. Recruitment for the first batch of 40 students for the LiuGong tailored class has been completed. The 1+1+1 cooperative education program has made a breakthrough by enrolling 18 students. Furthermore, PT. Gotion Green Energy Solutions Indonesia has signed on to participate in the project's implementation.
